Creative Writing Wednesday for NEDAwareness 2021!

It's #NEDAwareness week (National Eating Disorders Awareness Week). As a collaborator with NEDA I will be sharing some resources and links today in hopes to promote awareness of a heavily misunderstood condition.

Finally here's a poem I wrote for a good friend, dealing with an eating disorder, self harm and other mental health problems:

"Beansprout"

Your battle scars are beautiful and so are you

Don't let them make you ashamed of the

things you've been through

They'll never know how strong you are

How strong you've grown

You're so beautiful

You deserve to write hope on your arms

Show the world that you've survived your scars

They're gonna know

How strong you are

Oh, my love

Hold on tight to life

And you if you need a hand to hold on to

There's always mine

Hold on to life

They may not know how strong you are

But don't be afraid

To dance

with your healed scars

Your heart's too beautiful to lose

You deserve better than the hand dealt to you

And your smile

It lights up the room

For days

It's true

Your battle scars are beautiful and so are you

Don't let them make you ashamed of the

things you've been through

They'll never know how strong you are

How strong you've grown

You're so beautiful

You deserve to write hope on your arms

Show the world that you've survived your scars

They're gonna know

How strong you are

Oh, my love

Hold on tight to life

And you if you need a hand to hold on to

There's always mine

Hold on to life
